6 Months, 85 Films- An Overlook
The year 2013 had a good start as far as the Malayalam Film Industry is concerned. It kicked off with the release of Annayum Rasoolum, starring Fahad Fazil and Andrea Jeremiah. The film portrayed a new theme of love and was a hit. NiKoNjaCha ( Ninneyum Kollum Njanum Chakum) had a good theme and was also a success. Sunny Wayne played the hero in the film.
Kunchacko Boban and Biju Menon were seen together once again this year through Romans, where they were seen as priests and the flick too was a commercial hit. Kammath And Kammath starring Mammootty and Dileep was the next release but it proved a flop within a few weeks of releasing.
Kamal directed film Celluloid became talk of the town by winning the best movie award. Prithviraj was selected as the best actor for his performance in this film. This movie highlighted the personal life of the father of Malayalam cinema, K C Daniel. Then came Sreenivasan and Lal starred Shutter, which was not successful commercially but surely impressed the audience.
Amen was the next flick that entered and that too became a big hit. It had Fahad Fazil as the main lead. Lal Jose made his presence with his movie Immanuel starring Mammootty. Dileep movie Sound Thoma became the most successful film with regards to the collection rates.
Nivin Pauly and Nazriya starred Neram was another short film that won many hearts. The new onscreen pair Nivin and Nazriya were well accepted by the viewers. Even though, Left Right Left had some issues but was a hit. Anju Sundarikal, Honey Bee and ABCD were the other flicks that were commercially hit. It is sad that the half year has seen almost all Mohanlal movies to be a flop. Ladies And Gentleman was the only movie that went well for him.
